The Shift from Formal to Casual...
The 'Trainer Hype'
We tasked our data analyst to give us some key shoe stats this week, and we realised that trainers have by far been our best-selling shoe this year taking 32% of shoe sales, vs 24% last year.
In line with this, sales of smarter shoes such as brogues have significantly decreased.
We want to know why....
In the last 18 months, there has been a notable shift from formal wear to casual wear in workplace environments. Even traditionally corporate offices in the finance sector have embraced 'Casual Fridays'.
According to a survey released by OfficeTime earlier this year half of the senior managers they interviewed said their workers wear less formal clothing than they did 5 years ago, and 47% said they thought their employees dressed 'too casually'.
So, have the workwear and weekend wardrobes blended into one?
As the expectation of wearing formal clothing to work subsides, your 'weekend' and 'work' wardrobes will start to merge. We think it's a positive thing! A more casual appearance tends to create a more informal and positive environment.
Positivity encourages productivity and creativity, and will go far in inspiring your team.
Therefore, embrace casual dressing!
